Jhansi D MohanBy Jhansi D Mohan, English & Communication Coach · 10 October 2026

Meanings in:

You know your work well, but in meetings the words don't come quickly, so you stay quiet. You don't need fancy English to speak up. These simple, polite phrases will help you share updates, give your opinion and ask questions in office meetings and calls, with meanings in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Starting and introducing yourself

Englishதமிழில்తెలుగులోहिंदी में

Giving your opinion politely

I think we should check the numbers once more.எண்களை இன்னொரு முறை சரிபார்க்க வேண்டும் என்று நினைக்கிறேன்.నంబర్లను ఇంకోసారి చెక్ చేయాలని నా అభిప్రాయం.मुझे लगता है हमें नंबर एक बार और जाँच लेने चाहिए।

5 common office mistakes

❌ Don't say✅ Say
Myself Priya from Accounts. This is Priya from Accounts.
I have a doubt.I have a question.
I will revert back.I'll get back to you. / I'll reply.
Please do the needful.Could you please send the file? (say exactly what you need)
Let's discuss about the plan.Let's discuss the plan.

"discuss" என்பதற்குப் பிறகு "about" சேர்க்கக்கூடாது. "revert" என்றாலே "பதில் அனுப்புவது", அதனால் "back" தேவையில்லை.'discuss' తర్వాత 'about' వాడకూడదు. 'revert' అంటేనే 'తిరిగి జవాబు ఇవ్వడం', కాబట్టి 'back' అవసరం లేదు.'discuss' के बाद 'about' नहीं लगाते। 'revert' का मतलब ही 'वापस जवाब देना' है, इसलिए 'back' की ज़रूरत नहीं।

A 30-second update you can use

"Good morning, everyone. Let me give a quick update on the sales report. I've finished the data for October, and I'm working on the charts now. It will be ready by Friday. I need some help with the November numbers. Could someone from the sales team share them with me? Thank you."

Change the details to match your work. Before your next meeting, write your update in 3–4 short sentences and say it aloud twice. Speaking once in every meeting, even one sentence, builds confidence quickly.
